Bend the Arc

Community Organizing ResidencyBend the Arc’s interfaith Community Organizing Residency (COR), has begun recruitment for its 5th cohort. The COR program is the only program of its kind in the United States, bringing together community organizers from all different faith and affiliations for six months to bridge organizational and religious barriers to build the multi-faith movement for justice.

One of the tenets of Bend the Arc’s approach to social change is to confront injustice in all its forms by working in coalition with partner organizations of different faiths and backgrounds. COR supports this vision by creating an environment where organizers can learn from each other's diverse backgrounds and foster relationships that cut across religious and organizational lines.

Participants in the COR program are partnered with experienced mentors and leave the program not only with enhanced engagement tools but a strong and resilient alumni network. The program for many has been transformational. Rabbi Andy Greenwald, a graduate of one of the first cohorts had this to say about the impact of the program:

“I believe that change can only take place when people of deep conviction come together to share in the struggle. COR has blessed me with a diverse, extended network of people of faith and conscience who have encouraged me, guided me, and inspired me every day."

Others look back to the program and cite how important the relationships have been to their careers in community organization. States Melissa Rudnick:

“I have been beyond honored and thrilled to be in this residency with such incredible people — the relationships and lessons will last well past six months and I am so happy to be connected to such a wise, gifted, diverse, insightful, supportive, loving, unique family of organizers. I believe that COR and the COR family will impact the movement for the better.”

Bend the Arc has begun accepting applications for the 5th cohort of COR. If you know a community organizer who is looking to strengthen their organizing career and explore the connection between faith and organizing with cohort of social justice leaders please urge them to apply today.
