Selah Leadership Program alumni in 2014Bend the Arc’s Selah Leadership Program is widely recognized as the pre-eminent leadership training program for Jews working in the social justice sector.  It trains a cross-section of leaders in Jewish, non-Jewish and secular organizations to be effective, sustainable and collaborative agents for change. Since its founding in 2004, the program has trained over 300 leaders from more than 200 organizations, with hundreds of alumni remaining active in our alumni network.

In the past year, Jewish responses to the #BlackLivesMatter movement have increased the call for greater investment in the leadership of Jewish leaders of color by the Jewish social justice sector. Bend the Arc decided to focus Selah’s 14th cohort on training Jews of Color as part of our commitment to being part of a broader movement to counter systemic patterns of racism in the Jewish community and the country.

While the American Jewish community is multi-racial – current estimates are that between 10-20% of the American Jewish community identify as Jews of Color or as multi-racial – there are few Jews of Color in positions of prominent leadership within Jewish organizations and few Jewish programs dedicated to specifically serving their needs.

The Selah Leadership Program seeks to serve and support Jews of Color who are leading within social justice movements and who value a supportive Jewish space to grow their leadership, build community, re-energize and make change.

The application process is highly competitive and open to leaders of color interested in exploring the connections between leadership, social justice and Jewish identity. Applications will be accepted through October 12, 2015.

Do you know an outstanding leader who would be a good match for Selah? Recommend them here and our staff will follow up.
