New York Chapter

We're fighting to protect immigrants in NY

It’s official: our New York Chapter is joining a statewide campaign to make New York safer for immigrant communities.

President Trump’s hateful, anti-immigrant agenda puts immigrants in our state at heightened risk for deportation and separation from their families.

At our chapter meeting on Monday night, we heard the story of an undocumented man on Long Island who was stopped by local police for a supposed broken taillight. Because the local law enforcement in his town collaborates with ICE, he was detained within hours and ultimately deported.

We won. New York will finally stop the devastating practice of prosecuting 16- and 17-year olds as adults in the justice system.

In the era of Trump, we just proved that we can still advance a progressive agenda locally.

Bend the Arc: New York leaders organized for a year in partnership with the Raise the Age NY Coalition to bring the Jewish community to the fight for juvenile justice in our state. Here’s how we made an impact:

Rededicate Against Hate -- a Bend the Arc New York Chapter Hanukkah Resource

Download this resource for learning and discussion on each night of Hanukkah. "Rededicate Against Hate: A Hanukkah 5777 Resource for America 2016" explores how we can respond to this challenging moment of rising hate crimes in our country. This resource was created by Solomon Hoffman, a leadership team member of Bend the Arc's New York Chapter.

Immigrant Rights

Advocating for sanctuary state protections in LA.

American Jews have not forgotten our history and we will not allow our country to become a home to bigotry and cruelty conducted by the government in our name. The majority of the Jewish community supports protecting Dreamers, immigrant rights, and a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants in this country.
