About the Campaign

Economic inequality has reached a crisis point in the U.S.

Forty-six percent of working people make less than $15 an hour, which isn’t enough for to pay for a worker’s food, shelter and clothing — and far too little to pay for the needs of their families.

When employers don’t pay their workers enough to afford basic necessities, they are passing their labor costs on to the American taxpayers who make up the difference through public assistance programs. That’s just unacceptable.

At Bend the Arc, we recognize this as both an economic crisis and a moral one.

International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union

Jewish communal traditions and texts make clear that all work holds dignity and that society has an obligation to care for the most vulnerable.

That’s why Bend the Arc launched its #JewsFor15 campaign to mobilize our supporters to join the Fight for $15, an innovative coalition that is dedicated to raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and protecting the right to form a union.

In 2016, Bend the Arc members, supporters and allies are working to help win minimum wage increases in states and cities where legislators or voters are deciding whether to pass a $15 minimum wage. We’ll make our voices heard and let the country know that a new generation of Jewish political leadership is rising to the occasion.
